The 2018 George Main (Colgate Optic White) Stakes
The Race: First run in 1945 this is a key race of the early Spring Racing Carnival in Sydney and while the winners of the race are impressive many of the placegetters have gone on to success in bigger races, in particular the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley in late October. In 2016 Winx won the George Main / Cox Plate double and lined up again with the aim of repeating that achievement in 2017. Sponsorship commitments have this race currently named as the Colgate Optic White Stakes.

Time: track record for the Randwick 1600m is 1:33.13 (Ikes Dream)
The Track: Randwick is a large course with four sweeping turns. Generally fair, but tends to favour the on pace runners when the ground is rain affected.
Track Bias, Barriers: The race starts in a chute into the first of two corners which can be a slight disadvantage to those drawn out wide.
Weight, Statistics: Majority of winners have been male horses just a few top quality mares winning including Winx who won her 11th consecutive race here in 2016. There hasn't been a 3yo to win this race since 2001.
