NMIT Kyneton Racecourse is not only a significant regional racing venue in the Macedon Ranges area of Victoria it also provides facilities for the North Melbourne Institute of Tafe to run training courses including many focused on the horse racing industry. The Kyneton Cup is the highlight of the racing year for the area and is held on the Wednesday between Melbourne Cup Day and Oaks Day.
Barriers Info & Starting Positions:
Circumference is 1616m and the final straight is fairly short at 250m. There are chutes leading into the front and back straights. The 1100m, 1200m and 2800m starts are in the chute into the back straight. The 1450m start is on the bend leading into the back straight. 2000m and 1850m start are in a chute into the final straight and both races go past the winning post and then do a full circuit to the finish at the winning post. On pacers or leaders from inside draws usually have the advantage.
