About Toowoomba Racetrack.
Toowoomba
Also known as Clifford Park Racecourse, the Toowoomba Turf Club formed in 1882 with the first running of the Toowoomba Cup in 1919. In 1992 they were the first Australian racecourse to run a race under lights and in 1996 held the first full night race meeting.
The track is turf and almost circular with a circumference of 1750m, racing is clockwise. Generally inside draws will be an advantage to those horses that can start well and run on pace or lead although the 1300m start is in a chute off the back straight is not as affected by this as other starts. Backmarkers will struggle to get round the pack as they go wide in the final corner for the short run to the line.
